Is ukulele a good first instrument?
It can be. Its small body and four strings give beginners a compact place to start learning chords and rhythm. Pressing strings, changing chords, and keeping time still take practice. A trial helps you and the teacher explore the fit.
What size ukulele should we choose?
Soprano and concert are common starting points. Soprano has a smaller body; concert offers a little more space between frets. Hand comfort matters more than choosing the smallest instrument. Ask the team for help before buying.
Do we need a ukulele before the trial?
Ask our team before purchasing or arriving without one. They can confirm what is available for your trial and help you choose an instrument for practice at home.
How should we practice at home?
Aim for short, regular sessions built around the teacher’s next step: tuning, a chord change, a strum, or part of a song. Ask the teacher what to focus on between lessons. Practice Challenge lets students earn credits and gives parents a way to see progress and weekly teacher updates.
Can lessons include singing or fingerpicking?
Yes. Singing while playing, melody, and fingerpicking are options. A student who loves strumming songs can focus there, too. The teacher shapes the material around the student’s interests and current skills.
What age can start? Can adults learn too?
We teach ukulele to kids and adults. For children, readiness includes following short directions and comfortably pressing a string. The team can help assess the fit. Adult learners can call or text (281) 940-4101 to discuss a trial.
