Halloween in the Park: Bringing BLE Music into the Community

A good place to start

A shared story can connect a program while each musician keeps their own moment in the spotlight.

For Halloween in the Park, the Best Lesson Ever! performance plan started with a playful question: what if music could bring Friendswood back from a fictional Upside Down?

The narrator script connected individual songs with that shared story. Instead of simply announcing one performer after another, the plan gave the program a beginning, a problem, and a musical way home. Here is a look at the idea behind the script.

Give individual songs a shared story

The planned opening used a specific piano phrase as the story's trigger. From there, the musicians' songs became part of the fictional rescue. Each performer still had their own musical moment, while the narration connected those moments into one program.

That combination reflects what we care about in music lessons at BLE: students bring individual interests, and there is room to share that music with other people. A theme can connect a program without making every student play the same kind of song.

Keep the performers at the center

The script was designed for a straightforward performance setup, with a little audience cheering between story beats. The idea was to let the music and narration carry the story while keeping the spotlight on the performers.

A familiar fictional world gave the program a playful frame. The music remained the main event.

Find a song worth sharing

At BLE, performances are encouraged rather than mandatory. A student can talk with their teacher about a song they enjoy and what preparing it for an audience would involve. Families can ask about the format, registration, and practical details before choosing a performance.

Our private-lesson membership includes performance opportunities. For the current schedule and registration information, check the events page or contact the studio.
